Mahar Arar Nightmare Never Ends

It was with horror that I read the head of Canada's RCMP refused to resign after admissions the RCMP had no evidence to support allegations Arar was a terrorist. Despite lack of evidence this innocent Canadian was allowed to be deported to Syria by the USA and tortured for over a year. The conditions he survived were horrific.

The RCMP is supposed to protect Canadians even if that means protecting them from the witch hunt the Bush admin is conducting. Our government, his government owed him that much and has utterly failed him and the rest of us in this matter and the matter of other innocent Canadians who have been tortured.

I am positively disgusted by all of it, most especially failure to apologize. This mans life was needlessly turned upside down by paranoid racist North American governments, both owe him an apology as well as an apology to the rest of Canadians, his family and yes compensation for lost wages and shattering his life.

Instead the arrogant gutless cowards attempt to brush it off and weasel out of hot water or in the case of the American admin and justice system pretty much ignore it and what they have done. There is nothing Canadians can do about that....but we must demand better on our own soil. This could happen to any one of us.

They have no shame. Any honorable person would apologize and step down.
